General

SideSwap’s wallet is built for the Liquid Network.

Our wallet is available for both mobile and Desktop. It supports both Jade hardware wallets and software wallets.

Our recovery phrase is 12 words. Private key’s are protected with either the phones biometrics or with a user selected PIN. The wallet is created as both singlesig (Regular) and 2-of-2 multisig (AMP). The AMP wallet is used to hold Transfer Restricted Assets, such as securities, which require transactions to be co-signer approved. New addresses are native SegWit, and coins on older nested SegWit addresses stay spendable. It has functionality which allows users to peg-in, peg-out, and swap assets.

Our wallet is a non-custodial wallet. Non-custodial wallets entrust the user with complete control over their private keys, including the responsibility to keep the backup recovery phrase safe. Do not take this responsibility lightly, we cannot help you restore access to your coins if you lose your password and recovery phrase.

The wallet is open source and can be found in our GitHub repo.

Jade HWW

SideSwap supports the Jade hardware wallet in both apps, over Bluetooth on Android and iOS, and over USB in the desktop app. See the guide Use Jade with SideSwap.

Wallets are imported as watching-only and do not require the user to connect and pair their device to view balances or generate addresses. The Jade device is only required when signing transactions.

Our Jade implementation does not currently support QR codes, nor do we currently support firmware updates via the SideSwap app.

Wallet backup

The recovery phrase is 12 words and contains all the information required for restoring your wallet. It follows the BIP 39 standard, so it can also be restored in other Liquid wallets that use the same derivation paths and SLIP 77 blinding keys.

SideSwap keeps two single signature accounts on Liquid. New addresses come from the native SegWit account. The nested SegWit account holds coins received on addresses from older versions of the app. SideSwap scans both accounts when you restore.

m/84'/1776'/0'/0/* native SegWit, external
m/84'/1776'/0'/1/* native SegWit, internal (change)
m/49'/1776'/0'/0/* nested SegWit, external
m/49'/1776'/0'/1/* nested SegWit, internal (change)

1776 is the registered coin type for Liquid. The blinding keys are derived from the same recovery phrase with SLIP 77. Your AMP account is restored from the same phrase as well.

A recovery phrase that was used in another wallet with a different path, for example m/84'/0'/0', can be imported into SideSwap, but coins on that path will not show. If you are moving from another wallet, check which derivation path it used, or contact support before you move any funds.

Send

To pay someone a Liquid network asset, tap “Pay”, enter or scan their Liquid address, choose the asset and the amount, and confirm. You unlock the payment with your biometrics or PIN, or approve it on your Jade, and the transaction is broadcast to the Liquid Network. A transaction is considered confirmed after two (2) confirmations.

Note. Liquid network fees are paid in L-BTC. When you send USDt or EURx without holding L-BTC, the app can take the fee in that asset instead.

Receive

Your SideSwap wallet holds two accounts, a single-signature “Regular” account and an “AMP” account for Transfer Restricted Assets, whose transactions need a second signature. Receive gives you a Regular address, which takes every ordinary Liquid asset. New Regular addresses are native SegWit.

For an AMP asset, use your AMP address. On the phone, open the asset and tap Receive there. In the desktop app, choose AMP Securities wallet as the address type. See AMP assets and securities.

Instant Swap

Instant Swap trades one Liquid asset for another in a single step, on the phone and in the desktop app.

Choose the asset you deliver and the asset you receive, and enter the amount. The wallet asks for a firm quote built from the best orders in the order book and shows the rate and the fee. Tap Swap and your wallet signs. The swap settles in the next Liquid block. See the guide Instant Swap.

Swap Market

Our Swap Limit Order-books allow users to place public buy and sell orders for any asset issued on the Liquid network.

Our Swap Market is divided into three sections where we have dedicated order-books for stablecoins and AMP assets while all other assets are listed in our Token Market.

Swaps are settled peer-to-peer as a coinjoin transaction between the parties to the trade. Real-time Delivery-versus-Payment (DvP).

Peg-in/out

To move bitcoin to Liquid, tap Receive, then Another chain, and pick Bitcoin. The wallet shows a Bitcoin address that belongs to SideSwap. Send BTC there and the L-BTC arrives in your wallet, in the normal case after two Bitcoin confirmations. See the guide Move bitcoin to Liquid.

Peg-out returns once the new keys are issued and the peg is restored.

AMP ID

Blockstreams Asset Management Platform (AMP) allows for the issuance of Transfer Restricted Assets which may only be held by approved parties. To whitelist a wallet for holding a specific asset, the wallets AMP ID must be whitelisted with the issuer or registration agent.

The AMP ID is at the top of Settings on the phone and at the top of the wallet overview in the desktop app. Tap or click it to open AMP registration, which helps you register with STOKR and with PEGx. For other issuers, the asset's Asset info shows its Registration Agent. See the guide AMP assets and securities.

Settings

Settings starts with your AMP ID. Below it you can view your recovery phrase, turn biometric or PIN protection on, export watch-only descriptors, choose the network access server or your own Electrum server, read and export the logs, pick your currency and language, read about us, and delete the wallet from the device.

Tx export

Your SideSwap wallet can export all your transactions to a CSV file. On the phone, open History and tap Export at the top right. In the desktop app, click Export CSV at the top of the wallet overview. See the guide Export your history.
